Double Delight

9th January 2017

Leyland Masonic Hall was the venue for two installation meetings being held on the same day.
The first was the meeting of Philadelphia Royal Ark Mariner Commanders Lodge No 1646 which saw Bill Joughin install Maurice Evans as his successor as Commander. The principal guest was Assistant Provincial Grand Master Ian Nairn.
Waiting for the Start: Ian Nairn, Bill Joughin and Maurice Evans
Ian and the assembled throng were able to witness Bill undertake his work in fine style. In particular his address to the newly installed Commander gave ample prove that his reputation as an excellent ritualist is well deserved.

Following a break Philadelphia Lodge of Mark Masters No1646 was held in the main temple with Ian once again the main guest.
James Ainsworth and Bill Joughin
James Ainsworth was called into action to install John Dean as his successor in the chair of Adoniram. He did so in a very warm and sincere manner.
Pr.A.D.C. Tony Farrar, Alan Foster and Alan Fairhurst
The address to the new master was in the very capable hands of Rod Bennison who delivered it with accuracy, a delightful pace and great sincerity. He was followed into action by Provincial Senior Warden Alan Foster who gave the address to the Wardens whilst Provincial Junior Warden Alan Fairhurst orated that to the Overseers.

The three of them set the bar high for the final address of the evening which lay in the hands of Ian. Without wishing to seem somewhat obsequious I can report that the very high level of ritual was maintained as he delivered an excellent address to the Brethren.

Following the formalities an installation banquet was held to celebrate both Maurice and John having taken the helm of their respective lodges.
The diners
During the meal Ian not only congratulated all who taken part but also thanked secretary David Rotherham and scribe Bryan Humphries for the work they had put in to ensure that everything ran smoothly.

The meal and company proved a fitting end to an afternoon and evening featuring a double helping of delightful Mark and Royal Ark Mariner ceremonial.
